PARABLES/ MUSINGS by MEERZA HASAN NIZAMI (Rumi)
PRISONER OF THE MIRROR
He was a sculptor, a great sculptor. He was working on his own sculptor. This became the focus of his life to sculpt himself. With time, he became so much absorbed in his work that he did not seem to have any other important thing to do. At last, with the effort of several years, he almost completed the sculpture. Then, he allowed others to observe it. His first guests were his parents. They very much appreciated the sculpture, but disliked the expressions on its face. He listened to them very attentively and started working to alter the expressions. It took him a year to do so. Next, his brothers came and advised him to change the eyes. Again, this poor man spent a whole year to improve upon the sculpture. In the meantime, his sisters arrived with their suggestions. He again had to work on the sculpture. Then his friends arrived with their ideas and it went on and on. He became like a puppet whose every action seemed to be directed by others. It started becoming painful for him as the sculpture was not only drawing more attention from others, but was also stealing his real identity. The time was fast approaching when he could have been asked by others to alter himself as per the appearance of his creation. He felt like a prisoner in the hands of his creation, where creator was being created by creation. It became unbearable for him and at once, he smashed the statue and for the first time in his life, he was free.
STATUES OF LIFE
Four children are sitting together making sand castles while having a fun time. They are facing each other like a joyous square enveloped in love.
Time passes and children become adults. Now, these adults appear very serious, facing away from each other, unlike childhood. They can be seen looking in the direction of North, South, East and West but not towards each other. They seem to be talking to each other, but in reality each one is talking and listening to him and him alone, while others are just a pretext. Each one is wearing single colour eyeglasses that are limiting his view to only that colour. He cannot see any other colour. Still, there is a possibility of experiencing other colours by taking off the glasses and look around with a view of innocence like good old days of childhood, but it only happens rarely.
As time passes further, four old men can be seen who appear more like statues rather pillars with deep foundation. Eyes and glasses have become one instead eyes seem to be completely absorbed by the glasses; hence colour of the vision cannot be altered anymore. Such pillars like statues will soon be covered with the dust of time and just a tomb will remain with no fragrance of love.
MOON CARVED OUT OF SUN
Pain can be physical as well as psychological. Physical pain relates to body and is curable through physical means, while psychological pain results due to isolation of oneself from the existence. A human being may seem to be occupied by thousand and one things, but he is lonely at the core. A thirst of an unknown nature surrounds him inwardly which keeps on giving him pangs of frustration and dissatisfaction. He tries to cure this pain through various physical means like trying to get more wealth and power, but actually the cure lies in breaking the shell of one’s artificial personality and becoming fluid like, moving and merging with the existence. However, breaking of this shell does not take place without experiencing the pain of new birth, only then the real happiness i.e. bliss happens. This is how; happiness and pain are interrelated. An analogy of rock can be given here. When a rock is lying on a path, it is almost dead with no value, but when a statue of Krsna is carved out of it, Bhagwan is born. This transformation of rock into Bhagwan is possible only, when Creator hits, breaks and hurts the rock and an ordinary rock after passing through the pain of carving becomes magnificent and beautiful.

RIM JHIM (Drizzling)
It is raining - falling of pure water from the clouds, which seems to wash away all the impurities of mind. I feel like a child to go out and share the joy of falling raindrops on the mother earth. But, the soft sweet rhythm of falling raindrops appears like a lullaby and a magical scent of mother earth is making me sleepy. In a condition of half sleep, I can feel the celebration of whole world around me and can listen to the music of raindrops. At intervals, lightning shines like a big laughter and colour everything in its own colour.

KRSNA KANHAYYA
He is the most perfect dancer. His every movement and gesture is unsurpassable. Every moment brings forth a unique movement, which disappears into the dancer to re-appear as a new movement. Same dancer dances a new dance every time. His dance encompasses every aspect of life – love, hatred, anger, kindness etc. in a flawless manner. He is the only dancer with all the moods in timelessness.

THE IMPERFECT PERFECTION
Immanent aspect of the Creator is evolving as the creation like a blooming rose from a bud. Creation like a painting in process may appear incomprehensible and incomplete; may appear without any purpose from a myopic point of view but in reality, immanent Godliness in the form of creation is evolving towards the perfection

Discipleship is a beautiful experience. At the time of initiation, a disciple wilfully agrees to surrender himself. However, question arises, what one has got to surrender? Actually, it is a device of the Master to judge the disciple’s pull of ego, so as to determine his strength for going beyond his tiny personality. If a disciple hesitates in surrendering, he is considered too much involved in his egoistic self and not ripe for moving ahead into the unknown. The space beyond one’s personality is vast where limits do not exist while ego represents limitation, hence cannot proceed on such a path.
